Working in HR at DCC is an enjoyable environment, and its great working alongside excellent colleagues. The workload tends to ebb and flow, so there are some mad busy weeks and some where the pressure isn't so bad. Salary isn't fantastic, but then its the great pension and good work-life balance that attract people to the public sector anyway - definitely not the pay!

You have flexibility in working hours subject to the overall team needs , you're able to take advantage of flexitime, and you can work from home occasionally too which is great for work-life balance. Sometimes the bureaucracy of the government machine can be annoying, and there is still a hierarchical mentality reminisent to years gone by - this can be frustrating if you're coming from the private sector.

Overall though, its a good place to work. Was this review helpful? Yes No. Report Share. Pros Flexi time working hours.

Not progressive in work. I have worked for Devon county council for 13 years. Good rates of pay, good benefits and flexible working. I have nearly always had an understanding manager who listens to what you have to say. A relaxed, easy going environment, working with a great mixture of people that are always willing to train and assist you.

Good teamwork atmosphere, flexible working and staff benefits available. I completed work experience here and had a good time. I learnt a lot about environmental health and CCTV. Rate your recent company Share your experience to help others. Always need to check your back. Administrator Former Employee - Exeter - 8 January I have been made redundant twice, from two different departments.

There is no job security. It's a high pressure place to work, and they regularly make people redundant, then lump two or three jobs together. Pros No such thing as a Free Lunch. Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No. Provide a good package of benefits, such as, childcare voucher, pension, cycle to work scheme.

Keen to look after their staff. Flexible working patterns.
