How many highers to get into university

Other UK qualifications, for example degrees from UK universities, including the Open University, and some professional qualifications are recognised as satisfying entrance requirements.
Whilst encouraging Key Skills, we have no plans to list these as a separate entrance qualification in any offer made. We welcome the new Advanced Diplomas and we're accepting these as suitable entry requirements. Certain subject restrictions occur for some subjects. We accept a wide range of qualifications from all over the world.
If you are sitting a combination of different qualifications, you will be made an offer based on your individual circumstances e. Grades listed on individual course pages are for guidance only. Check online for the latest minimum grades needed before you apply, and if you are resitting or upgrading some subjects you may be asked for a higher grade. Passes in two subjects with a high amount of material in common may not be counted separately e.

Highers and other Scottish qualifications We generally make offers based on your Higher and occasionally Advanced Higher grades. We make offers based on grades rather than tariff points. Core skills Core skills are encouraged, but are not normally listed as separate entrance qualifications in any offer we would make.
Credited entry Advanced Highers It may be possible for students with three Advanced Highers to be offered Year 2 entry. Study at Advanced Higher level is excellent preparation for your studies at Edinburgh.
This means that if you do not achieve our entry requirements by the end of S5, progression to Advanced Highers in S6 may be taken into consideration. We state entrance requirements in Highers and we encourage students to maintain breadth of study across at least four subjects at Higher in the senior phase S4—S6.
However, like Advanced Highers, we welcome the opportunity the Scottish Baccalaureate provides for progression and specialisation in S6 as an excellent preparation for studying at Edinburgh. As a contextual applicant you are eligible for an offer two grades below this published requirement BCCC. You have met the subject specific requirements, therefore you can be made an unconditional offer. You meet one of our contextual eligibility factors and want to apply for Criminology. You will now typically receive a Conditional Offer of achieving BC in your S6 two grades below our published typical entry requirements.
