I can't wait to experiment some more with it! Read More. Most helpful critical review Chas. Rating: 1 stars. I made this because I ran out of Lowrey's and needed for dill dip. Right now I'm wishing I would have ran to the store and bought some.

It was really salty. Reviews: Most Helpful. France C Allstar. Jennifer Benak. Every year at Christmas, my grandma would send us what we called nuts and bolts, which was basically a modified chex mix. It was my favorite Christmas item each year, and sadly the recipe died along with her several years ago.

Every Christmas since I have tried and failed to replicate such a cherished family memory. It was never quite right. THIS was what I was missing! This recipe minus the ground red pepper made my mix taste just like Grandma used to make. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I have made this recipe several times, and it has become my go-to secret ingredient! I use it on pretty much all cooked vegetables, in soups, etc. My only change was omitting red pepper I have 3 littles , but I'm sure it would be even better with heat.

I have tried several from several bloggers, and none of them work for me…this might, but I think it needs at least a bit of pepper. Not a huge pepper fan. Please let me know directly.

Sharon Cogburn This is so good. I love the shaker idea…works perfectly! Kristin Cindy Thank you Lacey! I like that this recipe cuts the salt in half and almost eliminates the sugar, leaves out the cornstarch… very good changes from the original recipe.

I was wondering why you chose to leave it out? I just found your recipe for the seasoning salt. Can your recipe be used without the sugar? I know that the sugar in your recipe is at t he bottom, and that is great!

Alice, that is a great question! I actually make this nowadays often with no sugar or with coconut sugar for an unrefined version. While no sugar will alter the flavor some, it will still work very well for whatever you would use seasoning salt for.

How much does this make if you double or triple the recipe? Hi Marjie. I hope that helps! Life is better with apple cider donuts
